The total immersion into a world of talking animals differs from the likes of "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast" or "Cinderella." （2）making ...vaults：等于which makes...vaults，which在从句中做主语，可以省略，后面的动词发生形式变化，表主动状态，动词变成-ing形式。

（3）that ...drawbacks：这里是修饰one的定语从句，其中balanced by drawbacks是省略了which are的定语从句，修饰advantages，表示优点与缺点并具。

yawn是“打哈欠”的意思, 即因疲倦、困顿或无聊等而不由自主地张大嘴深吸气, 由此可以拓展来表述“(裂缝等) 张得很开”, 比如和gap搭配来表示“不可见的鸿沟或者差距在拉大”。

词汇讲解∶with no regard for表示不管，无视。更多时候是写成更为简洁的without regard for。其中，regard作为名词表示关注，考虑。相当于attention/consideration，是个较为正式的用法。如Companies should show some regard for their employees' health.

without regard for这个短语在句子中作状语，一般是放在谓语之后，如The road was built without regard for the safety of residents.道路的建设没有考虑到居民的安全。

如果要用动词表示这个意思，则使用regard的反义词∶disregard。如The safety of residents were disregarded in the road-building.

regard还有个很相似的固定短语∶with regard to与…相关。=concerning。如I have a question with regard to your first suggestion.

《西雅图时报》的开头是这么说的：

这篇文章在一开头就描述了人人低头玩手机的场景，men, women, children体现出这一现象之普遍，而glue又刻画出人们对手机的痴迷程度，很有画面感。

glue，幼儿园词汇，是“胶水”的意思，作动词，表示“用胶水粘”。这个单词我们已经学了十几年了，但很少有人能想到可以用 be glued to 来形容对某件事的痴迷——就像被胶水粘住一样，形象又生动。

比如，回家久了你妈可能会骂你：头发掉了一地，不学习不干活，一天到晚就知道玩手机。用英语可以说：All you did is spending your days glued to the smartphone screen.

除了 be glued to，我们还可以用be addicted to, bury oneself in, be obsessed with, be engrossed in等来表示“痴迷于”。
